Brand Identity and Logo Marks—Boise State University

For this University project, I was tasked with finding four different Brand Identity and Logo Mark contests from sites such as 99designs, or crowdspring. I did not have to submit for the contests, but I was to treat the contest as though I was. The most significant challenge of this project was that I had to come up with something completely unique from any submissions to date. This was especially challenging for one contest in particular, as by the time I started my designs, it had over 2,000 submissions. The following are the logos I designed for the project.

BRANDING KIT AND PRODUCT PACKAGE DESIGN

After working on the four previous logos, it was my task to choose one and design a storefront mockup and product packaging.

The Robotic Guys

One of my favorite things to do is help family members with the different things I have learned within design and hand processes. My nephew competes on a team in robotics competitions and when they reached out to me to design a logo for them, I was ecstatic! While there were a couple iterations of the logo and “robotic” man, they ended up with some great looking branding and I got to practice my skills in building out branding materials. Those materials included t-shirts, banners, a booth design for the world competition, and freebies for the team to give to other teams.

In 2019, the team qualified for worlds and had the opportunity to go to Kentucky and compete with hundreds of teams from around the world. While there, they had a team booth. I helped create the vision for this booth and came up with promotional items for them to give out. These items included decals and laser cut/engraved zipper-pull pieces that incorporated the look of a VEX piece as well as resembling the state of Utah—where the team calls home.

HISTORICIZE

For this project, the task was to create an informational poster intended to provide visual context for an historical event or movement. I chose the history of immunization and the demonizing thereof.

THE CROSS SECTION

Journal centered around nordic history and culture. This required extensive use of InDesign to create a book from several different .indd files. I designed the layout of the entire book including typesetting the articles, building the table of contents, ensuring accurate pagination, selecting and incorporating imagery, and designed the cover.

NATIVE APP DESIGN—READY FOR THE DAY

For this exploration into UX design, I interviewed an individual to identify pain points in their morning routine. After identifying said pain point—he stressed over having everything in his backpack when leaving for school—I designed a native app to help resolve the issue. Ready for the Day was born! Using Figma, I created the wire frame and basic user flow for an app that would use NFC technology to know when your pre-registered items were in your backpack when you leave the house.
